Most people pick a trade by looking at the paycheck. The ones who stick with it usually looked at the calendar too.
Before you sign up for any training, sit down with whoever's at home and get specific. How many nights a week will you be gone? How often will you be home? Does that change after your first year, or is that just the job? Some jobs that get you home every night want experience first, so ask what year one looks like, not year five.
None of that means don't do it. It means go in knowing what you're trading.
