Midwest Truck Driving School is a great place to get your class A CDL. From day one I could tell what a Great Organization that MTDS is. Josh did most of our class room work and he made it fun and easy to learn. Bill was my in cab instructor and he made learning to drive a semi incredibly easy. He has a very unique teaching style! He has a long list of quotable quotes but the one that hit home for me was on my last day when I had a little trouble driving and he said “Look in your rear view mirror, that’s behind you. See how big that’s windshield is that’s what’s in front of you!” I highly recommend Midwest Truck Driving School!!!

Midwest Truck Driving School is a great school to attend. I feel the 4 week class A CDL course covers everything you need to know in the time of the class. They do a great job taking the time to make sure everyone is understanding what they are teaching. I had Bill as an instructor and he did a good job teaching us the maneuvers, pre trip inspections and driving/shifting. He had a great attitude everyday, our crew laughed all day everyday. A quote from Bill “I could’ve licked the sticker off his license plate you were so close to him.” He let us know when we were doing something wrong but always found a way to make us laugh while doing so. Day 1, as soon as I walked in I knew I was in the right place. Professional layout, well prepared materials. I currently hold a CDL-A but I felt that my original school was lacking in several aspects. So I opted to come here for an extended refresher course (4 weeks). I am a combat veteran, and Midwest made it seamless to use my VA education benefit to cover tuition AND lodging. I live 730 miles from the school, so all I had to do was get here with an open mind and they have taken care of the rest. I am extremely grateful for my experience here and the kindness and support that everyone here at Midwest offers. I would recommend ANYONE to attend if they can. My only regret is that I didn't come here first!!! From the detailed classroom instruction to the adverse weather training, I feel like I am set up for success, and look forward to starting my career on the right foot!

I decided to use Midwest Truck Driving School to get my class A CDL. I already have a class B CDL and needed to up grade to a class A CDL. They offer a 1 week class 40 hr class to do this. I am here now for the 1 week very impressed on how they do there training very friendly trainers, they take the time to make sure you are properly trained to get your CDL. The instructors take there time helping you where you are needing help the most and very professional. I big shout to my instructor Tim Stein he takes your training personal and lets you do your tasks for training purposes and then throughly explains what you did wrong to a tee. Also he gives everyone the check off sheet for the walk around and have them check off what you did threw the walk around and lets others do the walk around while you checking off what they did. Then everyone explains what was missed. I would recommend Midwest Truck Driving School for everyone wanting to get there CDL. They also offer an Electrical Line School and a Heavy Equipment School.

From before and during the classes admin and instructors were very professional. My instructor was bob. Bob is very knowledgeable and straight foward (more than the others I’ve met imo). As he puts it “if you’re not soft skinned” and can put up with him “busting your balls” you’ll be fine and you’ll really like him. The ammount of times I was called out by him on my mess ups were a lot. But when he says “you impressed me”, “you’re doing good”, and “you make me proud” it should and will mean a lot. Overall I started worrying before coming to class but once I got here my classmates and of course instructors were there to help and be there for me! To bob, thank you for always giving me a good laugh, helping me through my issues, and being a good mentor! I do recommend!

Most states require a written knowledge test for obtaining a tanker endorsement on your CDL. The written test covers topics related to tanker operations, safety, and regulations.

The validity of a tanker endorsement on your CDL typically coincides with the expiration date of your CDL itself. In most cases, a tanker endorsement is subject to renewal along with your CDL, and you may need to meet certain requirements for renewal, such as a medical examination and paying the appropriate fees. Requirements for renewal may vary by jurisdiction, so it’s essential to check with your states local DMV for specific details.

Yes, you can obtain a tanker endorsement even if you already have a Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement on your CDL. These endorsements are separate certifications that may be required depending on the type of cargo you’ll be transporting. If you plan to haul liquids or gases in bulk containers, you’ll need both the tanker and HazMat endorsements, as appropriate. Keep in mind that additional knowledge and skills tests may be necessary for each endorsement.
